Ayade sacks four commissioners, five other appointees

Cross River Governor Ben Ayade



THE Governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade, has sacked nine of his appointees. They include: four commissioners and four Special Advisers.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the governor on Media and Publicity, Christian Ita, in Calabar, on Monday.

It read in part, “The State Governor, His Excellency, Prof Ben Ayade has approved the relieve of the following persons of their appointments: Mr Mike Usibe (Commissioner for New Cities Development), Rita Ayim (Commissioner for Women Affairs), Mr Asu Okang (Commissioner for Information and Orientation), and Ntufam Donatus Etim (Commissioner for Climate Change and Forestry).

“Similarly, the underlisted persons have also been relieved of their appointments: Mr Leo Inyambe, Rt Hon Orok Otu Duke, Mr. Victor Okon (Alausa), Mr John Etim Bassey and Hon Agbiji Mbeh Agbiji.

“Consequently, they are hereby directed to return government properties and vehicles in their care with immediate effect to the Chief Staff to the governor.

“His Excellency thanks them for their services to the state and wishes them well in their future endeavours.”

However, hours later, the governor issued another statement reinstating Agbiji Mbeh, the Special Adviser on Aviation.

The statement which was also signed by Ita read, “The state Governor, His Excellency Sir Ben Ayade has approved the immediate reinstatement of Hon Agbiji Mbeh Agbiji as the special adviser on Aviation.

“Agbiji’s name was included in error among those relieved of their appointments in a press release issued earlier today (Monday).”
