Mohammed fires commissioners, others, demands inventory of state assets

BAUCHI, State governor, Bala Mohammed, retained four Special Advisers after dissolving the State Executive Council.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, which was made available to journalists, in Bauchi, on Wednesday.

Those who were relieved of their appointments include: the Secretary to the State Government, Sabi’u Baba, the Chief of Staff, Dr. Ladan Salihu, as well as 21 Commissioners, and Special Advisers.

The governor, however, retained four Special Advisers and directed that an inventory of all government properties should be taken.

The former commissioners were asked to hand over to their respective Permanent Secretaries while the SSG, Chief of Staff and affected Special Advisers, were instructed to handover to the most Senior Permanent Secretary in the Government House.

The statement read in part, “His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has approved, with immediate effect, the dissolution of the State Executive Council.”

Those who retained their jobs were: “Special Adviser Security; Special Adviser National and State Assembly Liaison; Special Adviser Social Investment and Special Adviser Media and Publicity.

Gidado also said, “All Commissioners are to handover the affairs of their Ministries to their respective Permanent Secretaries, while the SSG, the COS Government House and other affected Special Advisers, are to handover to the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Government House.

“He equally directed that an inventory of government property be taken.”
